Questions, answered plainly.
The honest version — how SMS and voice escalation works, caregiver consent, Home Assistant, iOS availability, and what we don’t promise. If escalation makes you a little wary, good; these are the questions worth asking.
How is this different from the reminders app I already have?
Traditional reminders fire once and then fall silent. RemindRelay treats a reminder as an open loop: if it is not acknowledged, it escalates across the channels you choose — and only stops when someone responds.
Will it spam the people I care about?
No. Escalation only reaches another person at the tiers you configure, and trusted contacts must consent before they can be looped in. A single acknowledgement halts the entire chain immediately.
Is RemindRelay a medical or emergency service?
No. RemindRelay is a productivity and accountability tool. It is not a medical device, not emergency monitoring, and it cannot guarantee message delivery. It should never be relied upon for life-critical alerting.
What can it actually reach?
Push, SMS, WhatsApp, email, voice calls, webhooks, Home Assistant automations, and trusted/caregiver contacts. Webhooks and Home Assistant let you wire RemindRelay into almost anything.
Do I have to type out every reminder?
You can. You can also describe it in plain language ("remind me to take my meds at 8 and escalate to mom after an hour"), use templates, the widget, Siri, or App Intents.
When can I use it?
Now — RemindRelay is available on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch, and requires iOS 17 or later. You can start free and upgrade when you need more messaging volume.
How does SMS and voice escalation work?
When a reminder goes unacknowledged, RemindRelay can move it to SMS and then to an automated voice call at the tiers and timing you set. Each step is best-effort over third-party carriers, and a single acknowledgement stops the whole chain.
How does caregiver consent work?
A trusted contact or caregiver must opt in before they can ever be included in an escalation, and they can withdraw at any time. They are only notified at the tier you configure — never as a surprise, and never as emergency monitoring.
Is RemindRelay good for ADHD reminders?
That is a core use case. Reminders escalate instead of being silently swiped away, with optional louder nudges and an opt-in accountability partner. It is designed to be supportive and shame-free, and you can keep it entirely solo.
How do I set up a Home Assistant reminder?
An escalation tier can fire a signed webhook that a Home Assistant automation listens for — pulsing lights, pausing media, or speaking an announcement — and a resolve event fires when the reminder is acknowledged. Webhook and Home Assistant escalation are included on Plus, Pro, and Family plans.
Will message delivery be guaranteed?
No. Delivery is best-effort across push, carriers, email, and other third-party networks, and can be delayed or fail. RemindRelay is not a medical device or an emergency service — do not rely on any single channel for safety-critical needs.
Stop losing the reminders that matter most.
RemindRelay is out on the App Store. Set your first escalating reminder in under a minute, then add the channels that fit your life.
